Cold Showers

She'd read about the many advantages of cold showers and was intrigued. Beyond the mental and physical health benefits*, there was a morale boosting effect that set the tone for the entire day: To shower cold was to start the day with a courageous act. So she began this day with the courageous act. Result: Invigorating! She'd make this her weekday morning ritual.

*Health benefits of a cold shower:
  • Brings blood to the capillaries, thereby increasing circulation throughout the body
  • Cleans the circulatory system
  • Reduces blood pressure on internal organs
  • Facilitates flushing for organs
  • Strengthens parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems
  • Contracts muscles to eliminate toxins
  • Strengthens mucous membranes which help resist allergies, colds and coughs
  • Can stimulate the brain's primary source of noradrenaline which can mediate depression
Extra credit points for saving on heating expenses and conserving water (cold showers = short showers). Plus cold water strengthened hair strands by closing their cuticles. All good!
